Food and Hair Loss

Is what you’re eating contributing to your hair troubles?

If you are dealing with hair loss and thinning hair, one food to reduce is a vegetable oil such as canola, safflower, and sunflower oil. For foods that do not easily yield oil, such as sunflower seeds, corn, or soybeans, removing the oil involves an aggressive process that uses high heat, chemical solvents, detergents, and deodorizers that can be toxic. Furthermore, the fats in these oils become damaged in this process, producing free radicals that can damage our cells. These vegetable oils can be inflammatory and harmful to hair follicles.

This does not however mean you need to forego oil altogether. For stronger hair follicles, consider checking ingredient labels. Opt for foods with avocado oil, extra virgin olive oil, ghee, or coconut oil to avoid the inflammatory effects of vegetable oils.
